2017-18 (Sophomore)
Indoor: Did not compete during the 2017-18 indoor season.
Outdoor: Competed in seven meets for Houston during the outdoor season, running primarily in the quarter-mile…Set a personal-best in the 400-meter dash, when he ran 49.81 at the Tom Tellez Invitational…Helped lead the Cougars to a win in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:16.02 at the Houston Alumni Invitational.
2016-17 (Freshman)
Indoor: Competed in five meets for Houston, mostly in the high jump...Opened with his top mark of the season when he went over the bar at 1.93m (6-4) to finish fourth at the Reveille Invitational on Dec. 10.
Outdoor: Competed in seven meets for Houston during the indoor season while specializing in the 200- and 400-meter dashes...Set a personal best of 22.87 while running into a 3.5 m/s headwind at the Victor Lopez Classic on March 25...Notched a personal-best 49.81 in the 400-meters at the Tom Tellez Invitational on May 5.
HIGH SCHOOL
Four-year letterwinner at Parkview Baptist School while competing for Matt Shelton…Was the 2015 indoor state champion and 2015 outdoor state runner-up…Finished high school as a two-time state champion, and four-time state runner up, while earning three team MVP awards…Also played four seasons of football earning a spot in the Red Stick Bowl Senior Football Game.
PERSONAL
Son of Carisa Mathes…Won the Eagle Award in high school while also participating as a member of the Christian Conservation Club and the Spanish Club…Enjoys listening to music in his spare time…Majoring in Chemical Engineering…Aspires to be an engineer at a chemical plant.
