A total of 68 current or former Cougars from 19 different countries have participated in the Olympics. Houston has had at least one representative in each of the last 16Â Summer Games. The largest contingent of Cougars to participate in a single Olympics was 22 in 1984.
Cougars have collected a total of 43 medals all-time, including 20 golds, 14 silver and nine bronze. UH's most decorated Olympian is Carl Lewis, who won 10 total medals (nine golds, one bronze) from 1984-96 for the United States in track and field. Twenty-five student-athletes have presented the United States at the Olympics.
