
Mental Health Services
Student-Athlete Mental Health and Wellness Services (SAMHWS) is designed to assist student-athletes with their mental well-being and to support their emotional and psychological development in life and sports. SAMHWS believes that mental health is health. The services we provide are specifically tailored to University of Houston student-athletes and are periodically changing to reflect the needs and demographics of our campus, and athletic department communities.Â
Mission & Vision
SAMHWS provides direct and indirect mental health services holistic wellness and mental health services to University of Houston student-athletes towards the fulfillment of their personal, academic, athletic goals and in life beyond the University of Houston.Â

Towards this, the vision is to create a safe and inclusive space that facilitates the enhancement of the mental health and wellness of University of Houston student-athletes while developing a departmental culture that fosters positive mental health and, in turn, assists the University of Houston Department of Athletics work towards established competitive goals.

Multidisciplinary Team

The SAMHWS multidisciplinary team includes select athletics staff and administrators whose responsibilities include student-athlete physical, mental, and/or academic well-being. Â
