Freshman Zac Miller takes down 1988 school record on Saturday
HOUSTON – University of Houston Track & Field freshman Zac Miller set a school record in the men's 1500m race at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight on Saturday.

Patrick Picciano's 1500m record of 3:44.48, set in May 1988, was finally broken nearly 38 years later when Miller ran 3:43.02 to win the race at Rice. Sophomore Remay Abraha finished second with a time of 3:44.60, earning the third-fastest time in program history.

Junior Cordell Nwokeji secured his fourth men's shot put win of the season with a mark of 19.03m

Freshman Zyon Alston secured two victories, winning the women's 100m in 11.54 seconds and posting a personal best of 23.76 seconds in the women's 200m.
Freshman Saphina Stanley won the women's triple jump with a personal best mark of 12.29m. Sophomore Stephanie Ume-Ezeoke finished second overall with a personal best of 12.06m.

Graduate Arianna Peroni recorded a personal best clearance of 4.05m to win the women's pole vault. Her mark moved her up to fifth on Houston's all-time performance list. Junior Nicole Prall finished third overall with a mark of 3.80m.

Sophomore Noah Hanson finished second in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.19.

Sophomore Elijah Hernandez finished third in the men's 400m with a personal best time of 47.65.

Graduate Canaan Wharry placed third in the men's discus with a mark of 54.73m.

UP NEXT
The Cougars close out the regular season at home with the Cameron Burrell Invitational scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Due to anticipated inclement weather on Thursday, the pole vault and discus events will be contested on Wednesday, beginning at 2 p.m.

Thursday action will begin with field events at 11:30 a.m., followed by running events at 2 p.m. Houston Track & Field will honor its senior class at 4:45 p.m.
