Men’s Golf Welcomes Miles Wennestam on Signing Day

Award-winning Swiss star will compete as a freshman with the Cougars beginning in 2026-27
HOUSTON – Miles Wennestam has joined the University of Houston Men's Golf program after signing a financial aid agreement, Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke announced Thursday.Wennestam, who is a native of Küsnacht, Switzerland, will compete as a freshman beginning in the 2026-27 season and will have four years of eligibility.
He has been a member of the Swiss National Team since 2022 and received the Swiss U18 Order of Merit in 2024. He also competed at the European Amateur Championship and the British Amateur Championship, missing out on match play in a playoff at the latter event.
"Miles is a Top 10 ranked player in Europe U18. He is an accomplished player and has represented Switzerland at the Elite Boys level for many years," Dismuke said. "His talents, experience and maturity will be tremendous assets to our program, and I'm excited to bring him to Houston."
In late July, Wennestam finished fifth at the English Boys' Open Amateur Stroke Championship with a four-day score of 276, thanks to scores of 66-69 during the final two rounds at Luffenham Heath Golf Club.
Earlier that month, he earned medalist honors at the Swiss U18 National Championship with a score of 208, thanks to consecutive 69s in the final two rounds at Golf & Country Club de Bossey.
In mid-April, Wennestam won the crown at the Scottish Boys' Open Championship at West Kilbridge Golf Course in Scotland. After opening that tournament with a 64, he closed the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 69 to win by five strokes.
In October 2024, lowered his score with each round and closed the Swiss International Championship with a 67 to finish third with a total of 215 at Golf Semparchersee.
Wennestam advanced to the Quarterfinals at the 2024 French Boys Championship after tying for third overall in stroke-play qualifying.
UP NEXT
The Cougars now on their holiday break. The team opens the spring season when it plays host to the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, on Feb. 16-17, 2026.
Houston welcomes HCU, Illinois State, Lamar, Louisiana, New Mexico State, North Texas, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, Troy, UT Rio Grande Valley, Wichita State and Wright State to the tournament.
From there, the Cougars travel to Mexico to compete at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Cabo San Lucas on March 1-3.
Houston returns home to play host to their own All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, on March 16-17. The Cougars will face Rice, Abilene Christian, Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, HCU, Lamar, Nebraska, North Texas, Odessa College, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, ULM, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley and individuals from LSU.
