Blair Records Career-High 33 Points, Houston knocks off rv/rv TCU

Bria Patterson records 1,000 career points, Laila Blair posts career-high afternoon
HOUSTON – Senior guard Laila Blair recorded a career-high 33 points as the University of Houston Women's Basketball program knocked off rv/rv TCU, 77-66, inside Fertitta Center on Saturday afternoon.
Houston (11-5, 2-3 Big 12) posted its second consecutive Big 12 Conference victory and first win against the Horned Frogs since a 73-68 victory on Dec. 21, 2007. TCU (14-4, 1-4 Big 12) dropped its fourth-straight conference game.
The Cougars started the game with Blair going three-for-three from the 3-point line. TCU led by three points near the end of the first quarter, but Blair evened the score with a 3-pointer to record 15 of the Cougars' first 20 points.
Houston began the second quarter on a 12-2 run led by Blair, junior forward Maliyah Johnson and graduate guard N'Yah Boyd. Houston's defense held TCU to nine points, forcing eight turnovers to extend the lead, 41-29.
In the second half, TCU attempted to make its way back into the game as junior guard Madison Conner and sophomore guard/forward Sydney Harris posted 13 and 16 points, respectively.
Graduate forward Bria Patterson drained a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter to reach 1,000 career points. The Cougars now have three active student-athletes with 1,000+ career points (Blair, 1,398; Boyd, 1,097; Patterson, 1,000).
NOTES
The Cougars head to Morgantown, W. Va., to take on #24/rv West Virginia at 6 p.m. CT Wednesday.
Houston returns to Fertitta Center as it hosts Oklahoma at 6 p.m., Saturday for its Kaila Chizer remembrance game. Fans in attendance are encouraged to wear red to RED OUT the Sooners.
