Cougars hit three home runs on the day
Houston (10-25, 1-10 AAC) opened the day hitting a pair of home runs in the 8-3 decision, before launching another homer against the Shockers (27-5, 10-1 AAC), who won the second contest by a score of 11-2.
In the first game of the day, a two-run home run from senior Aspen Howie tied the score in the second inning. The fourth inning saw the Cougars grab their first lead of the game, courtesy of a solo shot from senior Tierrah Williams.
The second game saw the Cougars hold another lead, courtesy of redshirt senior Sarah Queen, who connected on her eighth long ball of the season to put Houston ahead 2-1.
KEY INNINGS
1st | The Shockers jumped out to the first lead of the game, scoring twice in the first to take a 2-0 advantage.
2nd | Following a leadoff triple from junior Bethany Busch, Howie stepped up to the plate and sent her third homer of the season over the wall to tie the score at two.
4th | A solo homer from Williams put the Cougars out in front for the first time of the game, but Wichita State found another rebuttal in the bottom of the inning to reclaim the lead at 4-3.
6th | Wichita State crossed the plate three times to push its lead to five, which proved to be too much for Houston to overcome.

KEY INNINGS
3rd | After Busch reached base with a single up the middle, Queen sent eighth homer of the season over the wall with a two-run shot to give Houston a 2-1 edge. The Shockers immediately responded though, plating six runs off seven hits, including a pair of home runs to reclaim the lead at 7-2.
5th | A two-run home run, followed by another two-run long ball proved to be the difference in the game, as Wichita State took the contest.
