Cougars to face opponents that are ranked and receiving votes
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team is set to host No. 14/17 Louisiana at 5 p.m., Wednesday, before heading to Wichita State for a four-game conference series beginning Friday.
By the time Houston finishes its five-game slate this week, the Cougars will have competed in 20 games this season against teams that were either ranked or receiving votes.
In fact, Houston' s matchup with No. 14/17 Louisiana will mark the seventh different opponent the Cougars have face that is ranked.

- Houston's pitching staff has been on another level as of late, having surrendered no more than three earned runs in nine of its last 12 games, which has resulted in a team ERA of 2.73 in those six contests. Those nine games has also seen the staff hold opposing batters to an average of .237.
- Junior Rachel Hertenberger has led the pitching staff, posting an ERA of 2.10 in her last seven appearances, while holding the opposition to an average of just .223. She's collected three wins during that stretch, with her win over No. 7/7 Oklahoma State being the second in her career over a top-25 team.
- Behind Hertenberger has been sophomore Logan Hulon, who in her last six appearances, has put together a 2.56 ERA. Hulon is coming off a strong weekend against USF, having found herself in a pitcher's duel in both her starts. In her 12.1 innings of work against the Bulls, Hulon surrendered just one earned run to compile an ERA of 0.57.
