Houston Falls in Fordham Holiday Classic Finale

Tatyana Hill and Dymond Gladney named to All-Tournament team
BRONX, N.Y. – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team's rally fell short in a 63-54 loss to Fordham in the Championship game of the Fordham Holiday Classic. Tatyana Hill and Dymond Gladney were named to the All-Tournament team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Bria Patterson got the offense going for the Cougars early, scoring five points in the opening minutes of play. Sharpshooting from Fordham would give the Rams the lead, as the squad made five three-pointers and led 17-11 at the first quarter break.
Houston would turn things up in the second quarter to chip away at the Fordham lead. Tatyana Hill would make her presence known in the paint with a timely rebound that would send her to the line where she would hit 1-of-2 from the line and give Houston some momentum. Fordham would embark on a 10-2 run to widen its lead down the stretch and take a 36-20 lead at the break.
Julia Blackshell-Fair was a force for Houston as the team headed into the third quarter. She would account for 10 third quarter points on 5-of-6 shooting. Cougars would continue to fight back and embark on a 6-0 run, holding Fordham scoreless for over four minutes to get within 11.
Houston continued to fight back and be productive in the paint. Back-to-back made baskets in the post would result in a Fordham calling a timeout to talk things over. Both teams continued to make shots down the stretch as Hill and Blackshell-Fair combined for six points in the final five minutes of play. Fordham would ultimately escape with a 63-54 victory.
