Cougars Add UT Longhorn Shootout to Schedule

AUSTIN, Texas â€" The University of Houston Men's Golf program will compete Saturday at the UT Longhorn Shootout in a recent addition to the Cougars' spring schedule.
Houston will face the 15th-ranked Longhorns, Lamar and Texas State at UT Golf Club in a one-day, 36-hole, 6-count-5 event. Saturday's First Round tees off at 8 a.m., on the 7,412-yard, par-71 course.
LINEUP
Pryce Beshoory â€" 73.09 average with eighth rounds of par or better… Opened and closed Royal Oaks Intercollegiate with sub-par rounds and tied for 21st at 215 (Oct. 24-25)… Native of Pearland, Texas, and product of Lutheran South Academy… Member of Pearland Little League team, which finished fourth at 2010 Little League World Series.
Zach Tracy â€" Fourth on team with 72.62 average but stands third with 14 rounds of par or better… Tied for 11rth at the Border Olympics with score of 3-under 141 (March 10-11)… Fired three straight sub-par rounds to tie for third at 4-under 212 at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational at Cypresswood Golf Club in Spring (Feb. 27-28)… Made his collegiate debut a memorable one… Posted three straight rounds of par or better at Bayou City Collegiate Classic to lead Cougars and tie for fifth at 2-under 214 at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas... Sat out as a redshirt with the Cougars in 2015-16… Native of Houston and product of Seven Lakes High School.
George Gardner â€" 73.58 average with three rounds of par or better… Tied for eighth in his collegiate debut at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 10-11, 2016) with a score of 1-under-215… Began his collegiate career with a 4-under 68 at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas… Native of Southlake, Texas and product of Carroll High School.
Matt Scobie â€" Three-year letterman… 74.00 average with seven rounds of par or better this season… Posted back-to-back 72s to close out The Hootie at Bulls Bay and led the Cougars while tying for 30th at 217… Tied for 19th at the All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola with score of 1-under 215. … Native of Ajax, Ontario, Canada and product of Ajax High School.
Michael Perras â€" Leads Cougars with 71.41 average, seven rounds in the 60s and 17 rounds of par or better… Has posted top-20 finishes in seven of his last eight tournaments… Tied for seventh at 3M Augusta Invitational with score of 7-under 209 (April 1-2)… Tied for fourth with score of 6-under 138 in rain shortened Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club (March 10-11.)… Tied for seventh at 4-under 212 to lead the Cougars at the All-American Intercollegiate presented by Coca-Cola at Golf Club of Houston (Feb. 17-19)… Was the 2016 NCAA Franklin Regional individual champion at 16-under 200 at Vanderbilt Legends Club… Native of Deer Park, Texas, and product of Deer Park High School.
Emmett Oh â€" Three-year letterman… 73.00 average with three rounds of par or better this season… Tied for 30th at Bayou City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 10-11, 2016) at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas… Native of Calgary Alberta, Canada and product of Central Memorial School.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars finished seventh at the 3M Augusta Invitational on April 1-2 with a score of 10-under 854.
Perras opened that tournament with back-to-back sub-par rounds, including a Second-Round 66, and finished seventh with a score of 7-under 209. Sophomore Matt Williams joined Perras among the top-20 leaders with a score of 4-under 212 to tie for 16th.
UP NEXT
Following the UT Longhorn Shootout, the Cougars enter the postseason when they compete on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Club in Clearwater, Fla., on May 1-3 during the American Athletic Conference Championships.
