James Ross to Represent Scotland in International Golf Competition

HOUSTON - University of Houston senior James Ross will compete for Team Europe while representing his native Scotland next week during an international match in India against the top amateur players from Asia/Pacific.
Ross was one of 12 talented players selected by captain Andrew B. Morgan to compete for the Sir Michael Bonallack Trophy. The three-day competition, which will run March 26-28 at the Karnataka Golf Association course in Bangalore, India, includes five morning four-ball matches followed by five afternoon foursome matches on March 26 and March 27 with 12 single matches on March 28.
The Sir Michael Bonallack Trophy is awarded every two years.
Team members were selected by on their World Amateur Golf Ranking and their high-level performances. Ross will be joined on Team Europe by Albert Eckhardt (Finland), Dominic Foos (Germany), Mario Galiano (Spain), Dermot McElroy (Ireland), Gavin Moynihan (Ireland), Renato Paratore (Italy), Max Roehrig (Germany), Mads Soegaard (Denmark), Robbie Van West (Netherlands), Ashley Chesters (England) and Ryan Evans (England).
This will not be the first international competition for Ross. Earlier this year, he was the co-champion of individual stroke play at the European Amateur Team Championship while leading Scotland to a runner-up finish. In addition, he was named 2013 Scottish Amateur of the Year.
On the collegiate side, Ross has been a consistent leader for the Cougars throughout the 2013-14 season. This season, he ranks second on the team with a 72.00 scoring average and 10 rounds of par or better and has finished among the top-10 leaders in each of his last four events, including an eighth-place showing at the recent Border Olympics.
UP NEXT
With this international event on his schedule, Ross will be forced to miss Houston Men's Golf's tournament at The Floridian Intercollegiate at The Floridian Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla., starting Monday. The tournament features one of the nation's top collegiate fields with four top-10 and nine top-25 teams competing and runs through Tuesday afternoon.
