Golf Falls to 18th Place at Waikoloa Intercollegiate

WAIKOLOA, Hawaii - The University of Houston golf team posted a team score of 300 during Thursday's second round of the Waikoloa Intercollegiate to fall into a tie for 18th place.
The tournament concludes Friday on the 7,074-yard, par-71 Waikoloa Kings Course with the final 18 holes.
Three Cougar players - Simon Robinson, Brad McIntosh and Brett Callas - lead the team with scores of 6-over-par 148 through the tournament's first 36 holes.
Scott Ferguson, who led UH after the first round with a score of even-par 71, shot an 80 Thursday to fall into a tie for 82nd place. Daniel Angenscheidt, competing in his first tournament as a Cougar, was tied for 106th place with a score of 155.
Georgia Tech maintained its lead after the first round with a team score of 285 in the second and is seven strokes ahead of second-place Stanford at 573. Nevada, Mississippi and Arkansas round out the top five team leaders, with Arkansas, Fresno State, Washington, Conference USA newcomer TCU, Arizona State and Oklahoma completing the top 10.
Individually, Stanford's Philip Rowe jumped into the lead after shooting 67 Thursday to stand at 6-under-par 136. Troy Matteson of Georgia Tech was one stroke back with a score of 137.
