Chelsey Patterson enters her second season as an assistant coach at the University of Houston. Hired in Spring 2020, Patterson has assisted with practices, spring games and administrative duties. In her first season with the Cougars, Patterson helped lead a dynamic, balanced offense that saw the squad outscore opponents 24-8 throughout the year. The stellar play earned Houston its first winning season in 11 years as Patterson got her first season under her belt.

Prior to the University of Houston
Patterson was a graduate assistant coach for three years at the University of La Verne. In her first season as an assistant, La Verne had their most successful season in four years with an overall record of 9-10-1 and a conference record of 6-7-1. Patterson kept players accountable with their academics which resulted in a team GPA of 3.6 and higher during her tenure.

Playing Career
At the club level, Patterson competed on a local team in California that worked its way through the competitive levels of Cal South to the highest level at the time, Premier. After her club and high school career, Patterson attended California State University Fullerton where she became a starter early in her freshman campaign. She joined the trio of captains her sophomore year and led the team to a Big West Regular Conference Championship, providing the Titans a spot in the BWC Tournament. The next year CSUF won the tournament and received an NCAA tournament spot to play at Stanford. In Patterson’s final year at CSUF, the Titans posted an overall record of 10-8-4, including a conference record of 6-0-2. CSUF went on to win BWC Regular Season and Tournament Champion titles, stamping its ticket to face Stanford in the NCAA Tournament for the second year.
In 2018, Patterson joined the LA Galaxy Orange County Women’s team as captain. In its second season, the LA Galaxy Orange County Women's team won the United Women's Soccer Championship in Calgary, Canada. During her campaign, Patterson competed with and against players from all over the country, including players from UCLA, USC, Notre Dame and the University of Michigan. In February of 2020, Patterson participated in the iSAW Soccer charity game, an inter-squad match that included players from Houston Dash, Sky Blue FC, Orlando Pride and Washington Spirit.Â
