2017-18 (Sophomore)
Indoor: Competed in five meets for the Cougars during the indoor slate...While competing in the heptathlon at the Charlie Thomas Invitational, Mechler set season bests in the long jump (7.41m), high jump (1.97m) and shot put (12.14m)...Set a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles at the Leonard Hilton Invitational in 8.30.
Outdoor: Received an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Outdoor Championships after posting a decathlon total of 7,722 points at the Bryan Clay Invitational, giving him a mark inside the top-12 in the NCAA…Finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles at The American Outdoor Championships, running a personal-best 14.51 in the final…Set his career-best in the discus at the Tom Tellez Invitational, throwing the disc 133-1 (40.56m).
2016-17 (Freshman)
Indoor: Won the American Athletic Conference Championships while competing in his second heptathlon for the Cougars over Feb. 24-25, where he earned First Team All-American Athletic Conference honors...Set six personal bests at the American meet including the 60-meter dash (7.08), 1,000-meter run (2:40.55), 60-meter hurdles (8.47), high jump (1.95m), pole vault (4.65m) and shot put (11.95m), while scoring a career-best 5,636 points...Set a personal best of 7.30m (23-11.5) at the Houston Invitational on Jan. 28.
Outdoor: Tallied 7,374 points in the decathlon to take silver at the 2017 American Outdoor Championships en route to earning Second Team All-Conference laurels...Also helped the Cougars to an American Championship in the 4x400-meter relay while running the third leg...Posted a personal-best 7,374 points in the decathlon at the American Championships, while setting top marks in the 100m (10.96), 1,500m (4:26.28), pole vault (4.70m), shot put (12.26m) and javelin (50.56m)...Set a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles at the Beach Invitational when he ran 14.97...Threw the discus 35.15m (115-4) at the Houston Alumni Invitational to set a personal best in the event...Completed his first collegiate decathlon at the 2017 Clyde LIttlefield Texas Relays where he set his top marks in the 400m (48.36), high jump (1.85m) and long jump (7.30m).

Competed four years at Elmira District Secondary School…Was a four-time national champion in the decathlon…Holds the Canadian Junior Decathlon Record…Qualified for the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Poland…holds eight high school records while competing in the decathlon…also played basketball for two seasons, and ran cross country for one season in high school.
