Senior claims third individual title of season while leading Cougars to team crown at Border Olympics
HOUSTON – After winning his third individual tournament title and leading the Cougars to their second team championship of the season, University of Houston Men's Golfer Hudson Weibel was named the Big 12 Men's Golfer of the Week.
Weibel fired three straight sub-par rounds to finish with a score of 8-under 205 to earn medalist honors at the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, earlier this week. Lowering his score with each round, he opened that event with a 70, following with a 68 and closed the tournament with a 67.
The Dallas native claimed his third individual championship of the 2025-26 season. The Dallas native won the first title of his collegiate career at the Argent Financial Classic in a playoff and won on the second hole of a playoff to claim medalist honors at the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas on October 6-8, 2025.
Weibel became the first Cougar to win 3+ tournament championships in season since Michael Perras won titles at the NCAA Franklin Regional, HBU Husky Intercollegiate and Northern Intercollegiate during the 2015-16 season.
Weibel led the Cougars to their second team championship of the year with a 54-hole total of 2-under 850. The Cougars opened the season with a score of 32-under 832 to claim the title at the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La., on September 7-9, 2025.
This season, Weibel leads Houston with a 69.33 scoring average and has shot par or lower in all but one of the 15 rounds he has played.
He set a career low with a 64 in the Final Round of the Trinity Forest Invitational on Oct. 7, 2025, and joined senior Bryant Hiskey II and junior Chi Chun Chen as Cougars with 64s this season. That tied as the fifth-lowest round in H Houston history.
