THE GAME
- Houston closes out the weekend with a trip to Waco, Texas, against #6/9 Baylor.
- Saturday marks the 48th all-time meeting between both teams.
- Houston leads the all-time series, 33-14.
- The Cougars are making the trip to Waco, Texas, for the first time since the 1995-96 season where Baylor defeated Houston, 81-56 (Feb. 4, 1996).
- The Bears won the most recent meeting at the 2021 Cancun Challenge, 74-58 (Nov. 27, 2021).
- This marks the second meeting between Head Coaches Ronald Hughey and Nicki Collen.
- The University of Houston Women's Basketball program was overpowered by #11/12 Kansas State, 72-38, at Bramlage Coliseum on Wednesday evening.
- In her eighth-straight game scoring in double figures, senior guard Laila Blair led Houston with 17 points while Kansas State's senior center Ayoka Lee posted a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds.
- What started as an early back-and-forth battle in the first half escaped from the Cougars' grasp as the Wildcats opened the third quarter on a 20-1 run. Houston was held to 14 points in the second half.
- Graduate forward Bria Patterson (986) is 14 points away from reaching 1,000 career points with the Cougars.
- Graduate guard N'Yah Boyd reached 1,000 career points against Texas A&M-Commerce while posting her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds (Dec. 8, 2023).
- Both Britney Onyeje (189) and Laila Blair (162) have their eyes set on the Houston all-time three-pointers made record of 226 set by Brittney Scott (2007-11).
- Onyeje is now second all-time on the three-pointers made list, surpassing Chandi Jones (188, 2000-04) while Blair sits at sixth all-time.
- A season after being the shortest team in the league and relying on its full court press to make teams uncomfortable, the Cougars are the 11th tallest team in the league this year an average height of 5-11.
