Cougars looking for fifth-straight win over Ragin Cajuns
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Tennis program begins the 2024 season as they welcome Louisiana at 11 a.m., Sunday, at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
The Cougars return seven of their eight student-athletes from a season ago. Among those returning are Gabriela Cortes, Sophie Schouten and Laura Slisane, who each won 11 games last year. Slisane was an American Athletic All-Conference Team selection in 2023.
SERIES VS LOUISIANA
Houston meets Louisiana for the fifth time in the team's history, with the Cougars taking all four previous matchups.
The last meeting saw a 4-1 Houston win over the Ragin' Cajuns on Feb. 19, 2023, in Lafayette, La.
FALL RECAP
The Cougars are coming off a solid fall showing earning 28 singles and 35 doubles wins in the fall season. Sophomore Sophie Schouten and freshman Nina Skoric each picked up seven singles victories. Schouten also led Houston with six doubles wins.
