Three Cougars to compete as individuals at Houston Classic as well
LAREDO, Texas & HUMBLE, Texas – Coming off its winter break, the University of Houston Men's Golf program starts its spring season with a pair of tournaments starting Monday.
Houston will host the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club, beginning with an 8 a.m., shotgun start. Teams will play 36 holes Monday with the Final Round starting at 8 a.m., Tuesday, on the 7,375-yard, par-72 layout.
In addition, the Cougars also will send three student-athletes to compete as individuals at the Houston Classic, hosted by Southern Nazarene at Houston Golf Club, in a recent addition to the team's schedule.

ABOUT the COUGARS
The dean of current Houston head coaches, Jonathan Dismuke is in his 14th season with the Cougars in 2022-23.
For the Border Olympics, Houston will be represented by junior Santiago De La Fuente, sophomore Wolfgang Glawe, senior Marcus Wochner, super senior Braxton Watkins and senior Austyn Reily. Sophomore Drew Murdock, redshirt freshman Ruben Lindsay and super senior Campbell Gibson will compete as individuals.
Senior Nick Sutton, sophomore Jacob Borow and redshirt freshman Bryant Hiskey II will compete as individuals at the Houston Classic.
This season, De La Fuente leads the Cougars with a 70.73 scoring average and eight rounds of par or better, including six in the 60s. Competing in his first season at Houston after transferring from Arkansas Tech, De La Fuente, has posted four straight Top-13 finishes to start his Cougar collegiate career, including a 10th-place showing at the Trinity Forest Invitational on Oct. 2-4, 2022.
Watkins is second among the Cougars with a 72.60 average, while Reily and Wochner are tied for third at 72.82. Reily tied for 11th at the season-opening Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Sept. 11-13, 2022, thanks to a Final-Round 68.
Gibson, who is the younger brother of Houston letterman Andrew Gibson, will make his Cougar debut on Monday after spending his first four seasons at Rice.
A transfer from Tennessee Tech, Sutton tied for sixth after shooting 140 with a First-Round 69 at the Bluejack National Shootout at Bluejack National on Sept. 26, 2022, in his Houston debut.
Hiskey, who represents the third generation from his family to compete for Houston Men's Golf, will make his season debut.

At the Border Olympics, the Cougars will compete in a 17-team field against Baylor, Bowling Green, Coastal Carolina, Houston Baptist, Illinois State, Lamar, Lipscomb, Louisiana Tech, Miami (Ohio), Michigan, New Mexico State, Rice, Sam Houston State, ULM, Western Carolina, Wright State.
Sutton, Borow and Hiskey will compete against student-athletes and Harding, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Midwestern State, Central Oklahoma, Southern Arkansas, Arkansas Tech, Cameron, Missouri-St. Louis, Mississippi College, Montana State-Billings, Henderson State, DBU, Drury, Arkansas-Monticello, Washburn, Oklahoma Christian, Rice and host Southern Nazarene during the Houston Classic
PAIRINGS
For the Border Olympics, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Baylor, beginning at 8 a.m., Monday.
De La Fuente and Glawe begin the day off No. 1 with Reily (first group off No. 2) and Wochner and Watkins (second group off No. 2) following. Murdock and Lindsay will tee off No. 17 with Gibson going off No. 18.
At the Houston Classic, Borow starts the day for the Cougars in the first group off No. 17 at 7:30 a.m., Monday, with Hiskey II (second group off No. 17) and Sutton (first group off No. 18 following).

Following the Border Olympics, the Cougars return to Houston to compete at the Rice Intercollegiate at Westwood Golf Club on Feb. 20-21.
Houston continues its spring slate when it tees off at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Los Cabos, Mexico, on March 5-7.
From there, the Cougars play host to their own All-American Intercollegiate on March 20-21 at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
