Swimming & Diving Faces Off Against Tulane

Cougars head to New Orleans for a dual meet against the Green Wave
NEW ORLEANS – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team returns to action on the road as the squad heads to New Orleans for a dual meet against Tulane at the Reily Student Recreation Center Natatorium on Saturday.Â

LAST TIME OUT
Houston won both the Houston Diving Invitational and the Rice Fall Splash Invitational on Oct. 14. Diving swept the podium in all three individual events while Swimming captured 10 first place finishes and 34 podium spots across the weekend.Â

BIG 12 HONORS
After finishing as the Houston Diving Invitational's top diver, fifth year Chase Farris was selected as the Big 12 Diver of the Week on Oct. 18. Farris earned the top spot in both the 1-meter and platform competitions while also finishing second in the 3-meter event.Â

NCAA CUTS
Houston's six divers have earned a combined 15 NCAA Zone Cuts this season. Farris, Josie Graves, Hedda Grelz and Michelle McLeod have captured qualifications in all three diving events. Emilia Waters has Zone Cuts in the 1-meter and 3-meter events while Alexa Massari has a Zone Cut in the platform competition.

PAN AM GAMES
The Cougars had three representatives at the Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile with competitions running from Oct. 21 through Oct. 25.Â

Alondra Ortiz (Costa Rica) earned two A Finals appearances, finishing in sixth in the 200-meter butterfly and seventh in the 400-meter individual medley. She also took 17th in the 200-meter individual medley.

Elizabeth Jimenez (Dominican Republic) and Danielle Titus (Barbados) both swam in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke. Jimenez finished 19th and 20th in the events while Titus took 20th and 24th, respectively.Â

Houston concludes its 2023 collegiate competition with the Art Adamson Invite in College Station, Texas, from Nov. 15-17.Â

Following winter break, the team again competes against Texas A&M for a dual meet on Jan. 11, 2024, at the CRWC Natatorium. Admission is free. Â
