Sophomore (2023-24): Finished fourth in the 200 Fly (1:56.93) at the Big 12 Championships … Finished sixth in the 400 IM (4:17.75) at the Big 12 Championships … Finished 11th in the 200 IM (2:02.42) at the Big 12 Championships … Won the 200 Fly against Miami/Rice (1:58.14) and SMU (2:02.28) … Finished first in the 400 IM against Texas A&M (4:27.08) … Finished second in the 200 Fly (2:01.56) against Texas A&M … Helped the 200 Free Relay (1:38.65) finish second against SMU … Took third place in the 400 IM against Rice/Denver (4:30.43).

PERSONAL: Ortiz was born and raised in Heredia, Costa Rica where she previously attended the University of Costa Rica. The Costa Rican national is a multiple national record holder in her country. She is the second woman in Costa Rica to drop five minutes in the 400-meter IM. She holds top record times in Costa Rica in the 200-meter fly, 1500-meter in long-course meters along with 200-meter fly, 400-meter IM, 200-meter IM short-course meters. In 2021, she won a bronze medal at the Junior Pan-American Games. In 2023, Ortiz placed third at the Central American and Caribbean Games.
