#22 Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Four with Sweep of UCF

Abbie Jackson leads the Cougar offense in stellar night against Knights
HOUSTON – Graduate Abbie Jackson posted a 16-5-28 line to hit .393 in a three-set sweep of UCF in the weekend opener on Friday night in Fertitta Center.
Houston (13-7, 6-5 Big 12) used 48 kills to hit .360 on the night while limiting UCF (17-6, 8-4 Big 12) to a .189 efficiency. The Cougars have held their opponents to a sub-.200 percentage in each of its last four matches, which have all been sweeps of conference opponents.
Three Cougars hit significant milestones in the victory. Jackson and junior Kellen Morin both tallied their 200th career blocks while senior Annie Cooke became just the sixth Cougar in Houston program history to post 3,000 assists.
In addition to her 16 kills, Jackson also tallied four aces, a new single-match high for Houston this season. Graduate Kenna Sauer narrowly missed a double-double with 12 kills and nine digs while junior Katie Corelli shined with nine kills and a .571 hitting percentage. Cooke led the Cougars with 23 assists while graduate Morgan Janda added another 15 and senior Kate Georgiades tallied her 17th match of the season with double-digit digs as she earned 10 in the match.
SET ONE
The teams kept it close early, with UCF narrowly holding a 6-4 lead after 10 points. Houston evened the score at 7-7 then posted a 4-0 run to take a 11-7 lead. The four-point lead held to 18-14 before Jackson rallied for a 6-0 run, including three consecutive service aces, to help clinch the set, 25-15.
Corelli and Jackson both tallied four kills in the opening frame while Cooke posted seven assists and Janda earned four digs.
SET TWO
The teams battled in the second, finding themselves tied four times before again being even at 10-10. UCF surged with a 4-1 run to take a 14-11 lead. Houston responded with a 6-0 run of its own to claim the advantage at 17-14, but the Knights kept it close, getting within a point at 23-22. The Cougars kept the lead and secured the set, 25-23, behind a kill from Sauer.
Jackson soared for seven kills in the second with Cooke adding eight assists and Sauer going a perfect 9-for-9 on service receptions.
SET THREE
Houston and UCF again kept it close early, resulting in a 9-9 tie after 18 points. The Cougars used a 3-0 run powered by a kill from Corelli and Sauer to take a 12-9 lead and posted another 5-0 run to extend its advantage to 17-10. Houston remained in control of the set for the remainder of the frame, earning a 25-19 set victory and taking the match, 3-0.
Sauer led Houston with six kills and five digs in the final set while Jackson added five of her own. Six different Cougars posted assists in the frame.

Houston wraps up the weekend with a 3 p.m. Saturday match against UCF. The weekend finale will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
