Houston’s offense continued to roll in the Cougars’ fifth straight win
HOUSTON – The #22 University of Houston Volleyball team overcame a slow start in stellar fashion to earn a four-set win over UCF behind double-doubles from graduates Kenna Sauer and Abbie Jackson as well as season-high 14 team blocks on Saturday afternoon in Fertitta Center.
Houston (14-7, 7-5 Big 12) played well on both offense and defense. The Cougars hit .297 in the match while limiting UCF (17-7, 8-5 Big 12) to a .104 percentage. Houston has now limited its opponent to a sub-.200 efficiency in each of the last five matches and moves to 14-0 this season when holding the opposition to under a .200 hitting percentage.
Jackson and Sauer led the way offensively, tallying 17 and 13 kills, respectively. Jackson earned her sixth double-double of the season by posting 10 digs while Sauer notched her eighth behind a match-best 15 digs. Junior Katie Corelli tallied seven kills and junior Kellen Morin finished with a 6-0-8 line for a .750 hitting percentage.
Senior Kate Georgiades extended her streak of matches with double-digit digs to five by earning 14 in the match while graduate Rachel Tullos boasted a season-high eight blocks with Morin adding six of her own. Graduate Morgan Janda shined in the service game, tallying four aces, while also adding 22 assists on the afternoon.

SET TWO
The Cougars flipped the script in the second and after splitting the first six points with UCF, used a 6-1 run to earn a 9-4 lead. Another 5-0 run later in the set put Houston ahead 14-6 and the Cougars cruised to a 25-18 set win to even the score at 1-1.
Sauer tallied four kills in the second and hit .375 while senior Annie Cooke added six assists and Morin tallied three blocks.
SET THREE
Houston kept its momentum into the third, using a 3-0 run to earn a 4-1 lead that they never surrendered. A 5-0 run pushed the score to 13-6 and forced a UCF timeout and another 3-0 run shortly after caused another Knights timeout at 18-11. Houston posted another lengthy 4-0 streak to close the set, 25-15, and take the lead, 2-1.
Jackson used five kills to hit .400 in the frame. Janda led the team with seven assists and four Houston blocks stifled UCF's offense, limiting the Knights to a .027 hitting percentage in the third.
