#22 Volleyball Hosts UCF for Two-Match Series

Cougars look to extend three match winning streak
HOUSTON – The #22 University of Houston Volleyball team faces a familiar foe in UCF twice this weekend in Fertitta Center. The Cougars open the weekend at 7 p.m. Friday before closing the two-match set at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Houston is coming off a three-set win against Cincinnati last weekend which extended the Cougars' win streak to three matches and pushed Houston to 5-5 in league play.
On Friday, Houston celebrates Fertitta Fest with the first 250 students in attendance receiving a free University of Houston Coffee Mug. There are also raffle prizes for students in between sets.
Saturday is Dads and Daughters Day at Fertitta Center. Fans are encouraged to take advantage of a special ticket package with two tickets, two hot dogs and two drinks for $20.

QUICK HITS
- Houston entered the AVCA Poll last season for the first time since 1994 and tied its highest final ranking in program history at No. 17. In the preseason iteration of this year's poll, the Cougars were voted at #19 and have been ranked as high as #13 this season. The Cougars have been ranked in all 11 polls so far this season and have been placed in 18 straight polls.
- The Big 12 Conference ranked as the top volleyball conference in the country last year according to the NCAA's Conference RPI release and added three 2022 NCAA tournament teams in Houston, BYU and UCF on July 1. The Big 12 currently has five teams ranked in the AVCA poll with another two receiving votes.
- Kellen Morin captured the University of Houston's first-ever individual Big 12 Conference honors by being named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 29. Kate Georgiades added her first Big 12 weekly honors with a Defensive Player of the Week selection last week.
- Morin has been a force for Houston on the net this season, leading the team in blocks in 14 of the 19 matches and ranking 23rd nationally with 1.32 blocks per set. Morin also sits at #2 in the league in hitting percentage while Georgiades ranks first in digs per set (4.70).
- The Cougars held Liberty to a negative hitting percentage, the first time Houston held an opponent negative since Aug. 26, 2017, against Southern U. Houston then repeated the feat, limiting Cincinnati to a -.009 hitting efficiency on Oct. 29.
- After replacing the entire top five attendances in program history last year, Houston has already replaced the top three again this season, including the first two volleyball sellouts at Fertitta Center. Houston currently sits at 35th in cumulative attendance and 18th in average attendance nationally.
- The Cougars are one of two teams with three players in the top 50 for career sets played among active players, joining Oregon. Houston's starting seven last match includes four grad students, two seniors and a junior.
