Greenville Trek 1.0 Tests Unbeaten Streak

HOUSTON − The University of Houston softball team will make its first of two trips to Greenville, N.C. as the Cougars face the East Carolina Pirates in a three-game conference set beginning Friday. Houston will return to North Carolina in May for The American tournament also held in Greenville.

FIRST PITCH

Paige Hulsey set a school record for stolen bases with a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts against Memphis on April 3.
Hannah Todd became the first pitcher to win all three games of a series in program history.
Todd and Hulsey were named to the American Honor Roll for their weekend performances against Memphis.
The Cougars have not played at East Carolina since 2018. Center fielder Aspen Howie is the only Cougar to have made the trip in 2018.
Houston has won its last nine home games.
Houston is 5-1 when the temperature is 70-plus.
Rock Benavides has a 16-game reached base streak.
The Cougars hit a season-high five home runs against Tulsa on March 26.

Houston downed #7 Washington in walk-off fashion on Friday of the Boyd Gaming Classic, 5-4. It marked the second-straight year the Cougars had topped the #7 team in the country (last against #7 Oklahoma State in 2021).
Becca Schulte hit a home run in the final game of 2020, did not play in 2021, and hit a home run in her first at-bat of 2022. Thus, Schulte hit a home run in back-to-back games spanning 23 months.
Freshman Ja'Naiya Thomas was named to D1Softball's preseason Top 75 Impact Freshman list and as the publication's Preseason Freshman of the Year for The American.
Graduate student Becca Schulte is competing in her seventh season as a collegiate athlete. Schulte graduated high school in 2015. She is one of two known 7th-year softball players in the DI ranks.
Houston will face four Preseason Top 25 teams in 2022, including three teams in the Top 10 of D1Softball's preseason poll.
The Cougars play 10 teams that made a regional in 2021 and seven Power 5 opponents in 2022, facing those seven teams a total of 11 total times.

LAST TIME OUT

Houston swept its conference home opening series over Memphis.
Hannah Todd earned the win in all three games of the series, a program first.
