SCOUTING THE LADY TECHSTERS. Louisiana Tech is coming off a Conference USA Championship game losing to Charlotte 68-63. If the Lady Techsters would have won the championship it would have been their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2010. Keiunna Walker has now scored double figures in 31 of 32 games this season and had her 13th game this year of 20-plus points.
100 WINS. Head coach Ronald Hughey tallied his 100th career win in Houston's 67-55 victory over East Carolina on Feb. 16 in the Fertitta Center. The win comes in Hughey's eighth season with the Cougars.
THREE TIMES 20+. Laila Blair recorded her third-straight game with 20+ points in the Cougars loss to South Florida. All three of the games came in the American Conference Tournament where should scored 22, 23 and 25 points. Blair has now recorded eight games this season with 20+ points, scoring a career-high 28 points against then No. 6 Baylor.
MIXING IT UP. Despite only losing one starter from last season, the Cougars have recorded 10 different starting lineups throughout the season. Faced with injury, Houston has had to rely heavily on its depth. Britney Onyeje has started all but one game this season after missing the game at Memphis with an injury.
WNIT. This is the third straight year the Cougars have earned a bid to the WNIT. Last season, the Cougars fell in the first round against San Francisco before beating Arizona State in the consolation final. Hughey holds a 1-3 record in the WNIT with his first win coming last year against the Sun Devils.
AMERICAN TOURNAMENT. For the second straight year, the Cougars advanced to the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. The Cougars, who finished sixth in the final standings, defeated the No. 12 seeded Cincinnati in the first round followed by a win against the No. 3-seed Tulane before losing to No. 2-seed USF.
