Cougars look to bounce back against Memphis

The women's basketball team travels to Memphis for a Saturday afternoon contest
HOUSTON – Houston is looking to bounce back with a road trip to Memphis for its sixth conference game of the season on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS. Memphis holds a 10-5 overall record with a 1-3 conference mark. The Tigers are coming off a 74-81 loss at Tulane after beating Wichita State on the road. For the season, Shutes has been the Tigers constant on the offensive end; through the first half of the season, she is averaging just over 12 points per game.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE. Taytana Hill recorded her first double-double of the season against Cincinnati. She scored 12 points and brought down 14 rebounds. It was the fourth game that Hill has tallied double-digit points and the third game she as grabbed double-digit rebounds. It was her seventh career double-double.
CONFERENCE PLAY. The Cougars are looking the bounce back in conference play after two losses to Temple and Cincinnati. After opening play in the American with a 2-0 record, Houston has gone on a 0-4 losing streak with losses with UCF, Temple, Tulane and Cincinnati. The Tigers currently hold a 1-3 record in conference.
THE SERIES. Houston holds the advantage in the series with a 15-12 overall record. The two teams played only one time has season as the Cougars took a 71-50 win as Tatyana Hill nearly recorded a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.
100 WINS. Head Coach Ronald Hughey is only three wins away from the 100th career win. This is Hughey's 8th season with the Cougars and holds a 97-129 overall record.
BENCH PLAY. Against Cincinnati the Cougars used the majority of their bench players. Ash'a Thompson and Kendall Brown saw extended time in the loss tallying career-highs in points, minutes, assists and rebounds.
AGAINST CINCINNATI. Tatyana Hill led the team in both rebounding and scoring with 14 and 12, respectively. She added two steals to her stat line as Julia Blackshell-Fair added seven assists to go with seven points and five rebounds.
