Leehy notches most points by UH swimmer since 1989
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Swimming & Diving program continues to make history at the NCAA Championships as Mykenzie Leehy added five points to the Cougar scoring total on the third day of meet action.
Â
Leehy added another highlight to her already illustrious career, advancing to the B-Final of the 200 Freestyle behind a 10th-place finish in the prelims of the event. The senior clocked the third fastest time in program history and a lifetime best at 1:45.28. In the B-Final, Leehy took fourth-place at 1:45.59 and was the only swimmer to advance from a non-major conference program.
Â
With her fourth-place finish, Leehy picked up five points which is the most by a UH swimmer since 1989 when Maija Aires score five points after a 12th-place finish in the 50 Freestyle.
Â
Ioanna Sacha competed in the 100 Backstroke, finishing second in her heat at 53.30 for a35th-palce finish in the prelims.
