
Houston Men’s Golf Set to Compete at N.I.T.

Three-day, 54-hole tournament begins Saturday morning with 36 holes at Omni Tucson National Resort
TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Houston Men's Golf program returns to action this weekend when it tees off at the N.I.T. at Omni Tucson National Resort, beginning Saturday morning.
Team will play 36 holes beginning at 9 a.m. (CDT) Saturday morning with the final 18 holes starting Sunday morning on the 7,167-yard, par-72 Catalina Course.
The Cougars enter this weekend's tournament following a ninth-place finish at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational. That tournament featured nine Top-35 teams and six Top-10-squads from the Golfstat national rankings.

STARTING LINEUP
Under the direction of Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by senior Alexander Frances, sophomore Austyn Reily, senior Matt Cole, senior Luke Long and senior Logan Young.
This season, Frances leads the Cougars with a 72.82 scoring average and five rounds of par or better. The Stege, Denmark, led the Cougars and tied for 16th at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational with a score of 1-under 212, thanks to scores of 70-69 during the final two rounds.
Reily stands second on the squad with a 73.09 average and is tied with Frances for the team lead with five rounds of par or better. The Pottsboro, Texas, native opened the Valspar Collegiate Invitational with a 69 and tied for 26th at 216.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against Oklahoma, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Colorado State, Utah, San Diego, UNLV, New Mexico, USC, Texas, San Diego State, Colorado, Nevada, Wyoming, Miami (Fla.) and host Arizona

PAIRINGS
For Saturday, the Cougars will compete in groups with student-athletes from Colorado State, Iowa State and Utah, beginning off No. 1.
Young and Day begin their day at 9:50 a.m. (CDT) with Cole and Reily (10 a.m. CDT) and Frances (10:10 a.m. CDT) following.

UP NEXT
Following the N.I.T., the Cougars will open the month of April when they play host to the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Westwood Golf Club in Houston on April 5-6.
From there, the team closes the regular season at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas on April 9-11.
