Houston Opens Fall at Lone Star Invitational

Cougars tee off at 8:30 a.m, Monday, at TPC San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Houston Men's Golf program begins its 2019 fall season when it tees off at the Lone Star Invitational, beginning Monday at TPC San Antonio.
The tournament begins with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Monday on the 7,435-yard, par-72 course. Teams will play 36 holes Monday with the final 18 holes teeing off with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Tuesday.

THE LINEUP
The Cougars will be represented by junior Luke Long, junior Alexander Frances, senior George Gardner, senior Matt Cole and senior Logan Young.
Frances returns as the team's leading performer from a year ago after posting a 73.12 scoring average with 12 rounds of par or better. The Stege, Denmark, native earned a pair of Top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place showing at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational early in the spring.
Junior Andrew Gibson and sophomore Braxton Watkins will compete as individuals.
Long and Cole will make their Houston debuts. Long transferred to Houston from Arkansas and sat out the 2018-19 season as a redshirt, while Cole is a graduate transfer from Arkansas State.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against Lipscomb, Little Rock, Louisiana, Mcneese, New Mexico State, Rice, South Alabama, ULM, UT Arlington and host UTSA.

Following the Lone Star Invitational, the Cougars continue their tour through the Lone Star State when they compete at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Hosted by SMU, that two-day, 54-hole tournament runs Sept. 22-23 at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas.
