Houston Releases 2019-20 Schedule

Cougars begin fall season on Sept. 16-17 at Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Men's Golf program will compete in 10 regular-season tournaments during the 2019-20 season, Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke announced Tuesday.
The Cougars will compete in Texas, Florida and Georgia with additional trips to Mexico and the Bahamas during the 2019-20 campaign.
Alexander Frances returns for his junior season after finishing second among the Cougars a year ago with a 73.12 scoring average and 12 rounds of par or better. The Stege, Denmark, native enjoyed two Top-10 finishes last season with a sixth-place showing at the Border Olympics after opening that tournament at 66-67.
Senior Logan Young finished third on the team with a 73.32 average in his first season with the Cougars, while fellow senior Zach Tracy tied for ninth at the Maridoe Intercollegiate in the second tournament of the season in 2018-19.

FALL SEASON
The Cougars open the year when they tee off at the Lone Star Invitational on Sept. 16-17 at TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. It will be the first of five tournaments in which Houston competes in the Lone Star State.
Less than a week later, the Cougars begin play at the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas on Sept. 22-23.
Houston will take nearly a month off before returning to action at the Intercollegiate at Innisbrook. The Cougars will play the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Club on Oct. 28-29.
The Cougars close out their fall campaign and start a streak of hosting five consecutive tournaments when they tee off at their own White Sands Invitational at the Ocean Club in Nassau, Bahamas. Houston will welcome Arkansas, Florida State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Illinois State, Louisiana Tech, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee, Northern Illinois, Samford, SMU, UAB, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.
It will be part of a busy time for Houston Golf in the Caribbean as the Houston Women's Golf program hosts the women's side of this new tournament on Oct. 28-30.

SPRING SEASON
The Cougars open the spring when they welcome 14 teams to the All-American Intercollegiate. Houston faces Lamar, Little Rock, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee, Rice, Sam Houston State, South Carolina, Texas State, ULM, UT Arlington, UTSA and Wake Forest at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, on Feb. 16-18.
From there, Houston hosts the Border Olympics on Feb. 24-25 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas. The Cougars square off against Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Campbell, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Little Rock, Louisiana, Oral Roberts, Rice, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, ULM, UMKC, UT Rio Grande Valley and UTSA.
The Cougars open the month of March at the Cabo Collegiate on March 1-3 on the Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol in Los Cabo Mexico. There, Houston welcomes an elite field, which includes Arkansas, Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, California, Florida State, LSU, Mississippi, Oklahoma State, Rice, Stanford, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.
Houston returns to the States to play host to another prestigious field during the Valspar Collegiate Invitational on March 16-17 at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Fla. The Cougars take on Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, LSU, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, USF, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
After competing at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational on April 4-5 at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., the Cougars wrap up the regular season at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Golf Crest Country Club in Pearland, Texas, on April 13-14.
Houston will compete against Abilene Christian, Florida Atlantic, George Washington, Houston Baptist, McNeese, Missouri State, New Mexico State, Nicholls, Rice, Sam Houston State, Texas State, UT Arlington, UTSA and Wichita State.
POSTSEASON PLAY
Following the regular season, the Cougars open postseason play during the American Athletic Conference Championships. Houston will return to compete on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Club on April 26-28.
The winner of the league's annual postseason event earns an automatic bid to NCAA Regional play.
The NCAA postseason opens May 18-20 at six sites across the country. Those venues include Auburn University Club (Auburn, Ala.); The Farms Golf Club (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.); University Club (Baton Rouge, La.); Eagle Eye (Bath, Mich.); Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (Norman, Okla.) and The Cliffs at Keowee Falls (Salem, S.C.).
The 2020 NCAA Championships will be held May 29-June 3 on the Raptor Course at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
