Cougars host Rebels in open conference weekend
HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Baseball team kicks off seven straight games at Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park starting with a three-game, non-conference series against UNLV beginning Friday.
UPDATE: Due to inclement weather, Friday's game was canceled. The Saturday and Sunday games remain as scheduled. Saturday's contest gets underway at 6:30 p.m., while Sunday's finale is slated for 1 p.m. Gates open two hours prior to first pitch for every game.

SINGLES
• Houston enters the weekend with a 27-18 overall record.
• The Cougars are coming off an 8-2, 10-inning win at Rice on Wednesday. Tied 2-2, Houston scored six runs with two outs in the top of the 10th inning to even the Silver Glove Series, 1-1.
• Senior first baseman Joe Davis ranks second in The American and is tied for 10th in the nation in home runs (16). He is also third in the conference in RBI (50) and fourth in slugging percentage (.642). The Austin native also leads the team in on-base percentage (.434) and walks (33), while junior third baseman Jared Triolo holds top marks in batting average (.312), hits (53), runs (34) and doubles (12).
• Davis was named to the Midseason Perfect Game/Rawlings All-America Second Team on April 3. The midseason honor is the first for the Cougars since D1Baseball and Perfect Game tabbed Jake Scheiner to the First Team in 2017.
• Junior right-hander Devon Roedahl leads The American and is tied for 18th in the country in wins (7), with all coming out of the bullpen. He is also second in the league in appearances (25), a mark which is tied for 17th in the NCAA, and opponent batting average (.207).
• Junior right-hander Fred Villarreal is tied for fifth in the nation in appearances (27), tied for 24th in saves (9) and is 26th outright in ERA (1.89), leading the conference in ERA and appearances while tied for the top mark in saves. He is also fourth in opponent batting average (.207).
• Villarreal co-led the nation with a 0.00 ERA through Houston's first 10 games. His streak without allowing an earned run to start the season ended at 13 and one-third innings with two runs surrendered against Rice on March 5.
• Senior designated hitter Rey Fuentes III was named to the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic All-Tournament Team on March 5. At the tournament, Fuentes III batted .300 with one double, one home run, one RBI and three runs scored. The homer, which came against Texas State on March 2, was the first of his career.
• Houston is batting .249 as a team and has a 3.67 ERA, compared to opponents' .234 average and 4.36 ERA. The Cougar pitching staff leads The American in opponent batting average and is tied for first in saves (13) while ranking second in ERA.
ON UNLV
• The Rebels enter the weekend with a 25-21 record.
• UNLV, who is 12-12 in Mountain West play, is coming off an 11-7 loss at UC Riverside in the midweek.
• Junior shortstop Bryson Stott is tied for sixth in the nation in walks (46), tied for 19th in runs scored (53), tied for 22nd in doubles (17) and is 25th outright in on-base percentage (.498). He also leads the Rebels and is first in the Mountain West in slugging percentage (.652), tied for first in home runs (10) and ranks second in hits (65) and fourth in batting average (.365).
• Stott was tabbed a consensus Preseason All-American – Perfect Game/Rawlings (First Team), Baseball American (Second Team), D1Baseball (Second Team), NCBWA (Second Team), Collegiate Baseball (Third Team).
• Stott and senior outfielder Max Smith were named to the Mountain West Preseason All-Conference Team.
• The Rebels were picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West Preseason Poll.
• UNLV is batting .295 as a team and has a 5.64 ERA, compared to opponents' .284 average and 5.40 ERA.
ON DECK
Following the weekend, the Cougars continue their seven-game homestand with a Wednesday matchup against FAU, before hosting Tulane to close its home schedule May 10-12.
The Cougars, who are in the midst of nine straight games in the Houston area, will also face the Owls again in the Silver Glove Series finale on May 14 at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas.
PARKING IN 2019
Gameday parking is offered in a different capacity than in prior years. Anyone entering Lot 16B (across the street from right field) will be subjected to paying a third party company employed by campus. This lot will no longer be an option for free parking on gamedays. All other lots surrounding the stadium will be free of charge two hours prior to first pitch.
