Senior first baseman tabbed to second team

HOUSTON -- University of Houston senior first baseman Joe Davis was named to the Midseason Perfect Game/Rawlings All-America Second Team, Perfect Game announced Wednesday morning.
The midseason honor is the first for the Cougars since D1Baseball and Perfect Game tabbed Jake Scheiner to the First Team in 2017.
JOE DAVIS | FIRST BASE
• Leads The American Athletic Conference in RBI (38) and is second in home runs (12) and third in slugging percentage (.743)
• Also leads the team in batting average (.347), hits (35), walks (15) and on-base percentage (.432)
• Co-leads team in doubles (7)
• Was tied for ninth in the nation in home runs (11) and 10th in RBI (37), sitting 19th in slugging percentage (.733) entering the week
• Passed Brandon Caraway (82, 1997-00) for the all-time career extra-base hit record with a double in the series finale against Northwestern State on Feb. 17
• Passed Brandon Caraway (435, 1997-00) for the career total bases mark with a home run at DBU on March 17
• Recorded his 51st career double in series finale at Memphis on March 31 to tie David Villar (USF, 2016-18) for The American career record
• Entered senior campaign already as Houston's all-time career home run and RBI leader
• For career, has 47 home runs, 100 extra-base hits, 204 RBI and 460 total bases.
ON DECK
After five games on the road, the Cougars return the friendly confines of Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park for four games to close out the week.
The Cougars will play host to FIU in a 6:30 p.m. Wednesday matchup before returning to American Athletic Conference play with a three-game series against ECU starting Friday. Wednesday's game against FIU is presented by Aspen Heights, while Friday's game with ECU is presented by Gonzales Electric and will be broadcast on The American Digital Network. ADN games are available on Facebook on the conference's live event page, The American Digital Network Plus.
PARKING IN 2019
Gameday parking is offered in a different capacity than in prior years. Anyone entering Lot 16B (across the street from right field) will be subjected to paying a third party company employed by campus. This lot will no longer be an option for free parking on gamedays. All other lots surrounding the stadium will be free of charge two hours prior to first pitch.
