Houston to Compete in Cabo Collegiate at Querencia

SAN JOSE del CABO, Mexico – The University of Houston Men's Golf program continues its spring season by heading south of the border to compete in the Cabo Collegiate at Querencia on Sunday morning.
The tournament will consist of 18 holes each day, beginning with a 10 a.m., (CST) shotgun start Sunday and continuing through Tuesday on the 6,928-yard, par-71 course at Querencia Golf Club.

THE LINEUP
Sophomore Alexander Frances, junior George Gardner, senior Matt Williams, junior Zach Tracy and junior Alex Isakson will represent Houston at the Cabo Collegiate at Querencia. Freshman Braxton Watkins will compete as an individual.
Williams leads the Cougars with a 72.69 scoring average and seven rounds of par or better this season. The Calgary, Alberta, native has led the Cougars in each of the first two tournaments to open the spring season, including a second-place showing at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational on Feb. 25-26.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 4 Alabama, No. 13 Arizona State, No. 16 LSU, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 20 Arkansas, Florida State, Baylor, Ole Miss, Arizona and Rice.
PAIRINGS
For Sunday's First Round, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Texas A&M, Baylor and Arizona.
Williams begins the day for the Cougars at 10 a.m. (CST) Sunday off No. 5 with Frances (No. 6), Gardner (No. 7), Isakson (No. 8) and Zach Tracy (No. 9) following. Watkins starts the First Round in the second group off No. 17.
UP NEXT
Following the Cabo Collegiate at Querencia, the Cougars will host the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, on March 11-12.
From there, the team will compete in the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Fla. on March 17-19.
