Series marks first true road games of season
HOUSTON -- The University of Houston Baseball team visits Dallas Baptist in a three-game series at Horner Ballpark in Dallas starting Friday.
Friday's series opener gets underway at 6:30 p.m., while Saturday's and Sunday's action starts at 2 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

SINGLES
• Houston is riding a four-game winning streak into its road series. The Cougars swept Army, 6-3, 3-2 and 9-7, over the weekend before downing UTSA, 4-2, on Tuesday at Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park.
• Senior first baseman Joe Davis was named The American Player of the Week on Monday and the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award Player of the Week on Wednesday for his efforts against Rice and Army. In the fourth week of the regular season, the Austin native turned in a .625/.625/1.062 slash, going 10-for-16 with one double, two home runs, eight RBI and two runs scored.
• Davis ranks second in The American and is tied for eighth in the nation in home runs (7). He leads the league in slugging percentage (.860) and RBI (21). Davis also ranks fourth in batting average (.386), tied for fourth in doubles (6) and is seventh in hits (22).
• For his efforts against Army, junior right-handed pitcher Devon Roedahl was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll. Roedahl bookended the series with a save and win out of the bullpen. He limited the Black Knights to three hits with one walk and five strikeouts across four scoreless innings.
• Roedahl leads The American with a 3-0 record, with all three victories coming out of the bullpen. His three wins mark the third highest total in the nation.
• Junior third baseman Jared Triolo, who leads the team in walks (10) and runs scored (12), has reached base in all 15 games to start the season. However, his reached base safely streak ended at 12 games, reaching only on an error against Army on March 8.
• Junior right-handed pitcher Fred Villarreal leads The American in ERA (0.98) and is tied for third in saves (2).
• Villarreal co-led the nation with a 0.00 ERA through Houston's first 10 games. His streak without allowing an earned run to start the season ended at 13 and one-third innings with two runs surrendered against Rice on March 5.
• Senior designated hitter Rey Fuentes III was named to the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic All-Tournament Team on March 5. At the tournament, Fuentes III batted .300 with one double, one home run, one RBI and three runs scored. The homer, which came against Texas State on March 2, was the first of his career.
• Houston is batting .227 as a team and has a 4.28 ERA, compared to opponents' .235 average and 4.00 ERA.
ON DBU
• The Patriots, who are receiving votes in the latest NCBWA and USA Today Coaches polls, enter the weekend on an eight-game win streak and 13-3 overall record. DBU beat No. 18 Texas A&M, 5-4, on Tuesday.
• DBU leads the Missouri Valley Conference and ranks ninth in the nation in home runs (22). The Patriots also lead the MVC in slugging percentage (.469), walks (77) and batters struck out (165), and is tied for first in wins (13).
• Junior first baseman Bryce Ball, the reigning MVC Player of the Week, leads the conference in home runs (6) and is tied for first in RBI (18).
• Junior third baseman Jackson Glenn leads the team in batting average (.373), hits (25) and doubles (8).
• Friday starter Jordan Martinson lead the MVC in wins (4), while Sunday starter MD Johnson holds the top mark in strikeouts (38).
• The Patriots, who finished second in the league in 2018, were picked second in the 2019 MVC Preseason Poll.
• DBU is batting .278 as a team and has a 3.47 ERA, compared to opponents' .237 average and 6.41 ERA.
ON DECK
Following the weekend, the Cougars visit McNeese in a 6 p.m., Tuesday matchup in Lake Charles, La., as announced on Feb. 18.
Fans should note that the game is at McNeese after the teams flipped their home-and-home series with the Cowboys coming to Don Sanders Field at Darryl & Lori Schroeder Park on Feb. 20.
PARKING IN 2019
Gameday parking is offered in a different capacity than in prior years. Anyone entering Lot 16B (across the street from right field) will be subjected to paying a third party company employed by campus. This lot will no longer be an option for free parking on gamedays. All other lots surrounding the stadium will be free of charge two hours prior to first pitch.
