Four Individuals to Lead Houston at Bentwater Intercollegiate

Two-day, 54-hole tournament tees off Monday morning in Montgomery, Texas
MONTGOMERY, Texas – In a recent addition to the University of Houston Men's Golf schedule, four Cougars will compete as individuals at the Bentwater Collegiate, beginning Monday morning at Bentwater Country Club.
The Cougars will compete on the 6,799-yard, par-72 Miller Course. The two-day, 54-hole event begins with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Monday and continues with the final 18 holes, starting with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Tuesday.

THE LINEUP
The Cougars will be represented by seniors George Gardner and Zach Tracy, sophomore Braxton Watkins and junior Laurence Crea.
Gardner and Watkins were competed in the season-opening Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, on Sept. 16-17. Gardner tied for 20th with a score of 223, while Watkins finished 31st at 226.
Tracy and Crea will make their season debuts this week. Tracy, who was a member of the 2018-18 All-American Athletic Conference Team, competed in 11 tournaments a year ago and tied for ninth at the Maridoe Intercollegiate during the 2018 fall season.
Crea was the two-time defending individual medalist with Prairie View A&M at the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championships before transferring to Houston during the summer.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete against Abilene Christian, Prairie View A&M, Houston Baptist, New Mexico State, UT Rio Grande Valley, Stephen F. Austin, Oral Roberts and co-hosts Sam Houston State and Texas State.
UP NEXT
Following the Bentwater Intercollegiate, the Cougars will take a break from their schedule before returning to action at the Intercollegiate at Innisbrook on Oct. 28-29 on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Golf Club in Palm Harbor, Fla.
That tournament will be held on the same course as the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships in late April.
