Houston to Face Minnesota on Saturday

SPRING, Texas -- In a recent addition to the team's schedule, the University of Houston Men's Golf program will face Minnesota in a single round of stroke play, beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, at Augusta Pines Golf Club.
Both teams will feature 6-man lineups with the low five counting toward the team score. Admission is free, and all fans are invited to attend.
LINEUP
Senior Papito Gonzalez, senior Michael Perras, sophomore George Gardner, junior Matt Williams, sophomore Zach Tracy and freshman Alexander Frances will compete in the Cougars' starting lineup.
Sophomore Pryce Beshoory and senior Alan De Bondt will compete as individuals.
This season, Perras leads the Cougars with a 70.60 average and 12 rounds of par or better, while Gardner stands second with a 71.73 average. Williams ranks third on the team with a 72.07 average but stands second with 11 rounds of par or better.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars posted three straight rounds or par or better at their own All-American Intercollegiate to finish fifth with a score of 15-under 849 at Golf Club of Houston on Sunday.
Gonzalez opened with a 67 and added two more rounds of par to lead the Cougars and tie for 14th at 5-under 211. Perras tied for 17th with a score of 4-under 212 to join Gonzalez among the top-20 leaders while Williams tied for 25th at 3-under 213.
UP NEXT
Following Saturday's round against Minnesota, four Cougars will compete as individuals at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, hosted by Houston Baptist at Augusta Pines Golf Club in Spring, Texas.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins with 36 holes Monday and wraps up with the final 18 holes Tuesday.
Following the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, the Cougars return to action when they play host to the Querencia Cabo Collegiate on March 4-6 at Querencia Golf Club in San Jose, Cabo, Mexico. From there, Houston will host the Border Olympics on March 9-10 at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
