HOUSTON â€" The University of Houston soccer program has a new member as sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Estopare has joined the team transferring in from the University of Arizona, Head Coach Chris Pfau announced Wednesday.
"This is a great pick up for us," Pfau said. "Rachel is a very talented keeper with great experience from the Pac-12 and will add to our program. To be able to get her to transfer this spring is big. She will get a lot of game experience in the spring and that will allow her and us to see where she is going into the fall."
Estopare appeared in 11 matches for the Wildcats during the 2015 season logging 773 minute and saving 32 shots for a .744 save percentage. The keeper compiled a 1.28 goals per game number which stands as the seventh-best mark for a season in Arizona history.
Estopare was a four-year letterwinner at Summit High School in Bend, Ore., where she was the team captain all four seasons, and was named the team's Most Valuable Player twice. In her junior and senior seasons, Estopare earned All-Conference, All-City and All-State Honors and was the 2013 Player of the Year. Estopare helped lead her team to Oregon 5A State Championships in 2010, 2012 and 2013.
