Thirty-One Cougar Athletes Set To Graduate This Weekend

Houston - The University of Houston Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that 31 current and former student-athletes are set to participate in commencement exercises on Friday and Saturday.
Joann Overstreet of the women's basketball team is graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors.
The men's and women's track and field teams have the most graduates among Cougar teams for the second straight year with 11. They include Brandon Bray, Andrew Carruthers, Cole Dailey, Kevin Watson, Lucas Mireles, Allie Booker, Alicia Cave, Cheryl Garner, Krystal Ward, Laura Yelverton and Keisha Howard.
In addition, the football team's Blade Bassler, David Douglas, Courtney Sterling, Justin Laird, J.J. Wyatt and Chris Lamark will graduate this weekend.
Jaci Gonzalez, who earned CoSIDA Academic All-District softball honors while playing with both the women's volleyball and softball teams the last four years is also graduating.
The other spring graduates include: basketball's Shannon Steele, Amy Duke of the swimming and diving team, Jennilee Skender and Brooke Johnson of the softball team, the women's tennis team's Diana Martin, Yolandi Terblanche and Biljana Dimovska, Sherika Hardaway and Stephanie Pucek of the women's soccer team, baseball's Brett Logan, and volleyball's Loure Dews and Cinthia Piva
In addition, Mirela Vasconcellos of the women's volleyball team graduated with Cum Laude honors last December. Seven other student-athletes graduated last December. They are football's Kendal Briles, Kade Lane, John McGilvray and James Fitch, women's softball's Kristen Glowacz and Kim Nesloney, Kristin Bay of the women's soccer and swimming and diving teams.
