Was a two-way player for the Cougars... Topped all Cougar hitters with 27 walks and played errorless ball in 74 total chances... Made 18 appearances on the mound with starts at Rice, against C-USA rival Charlotte, at Texas-San Antonio and against Sam Houston State... Went 1-for-4 with a run and RBI and threw one shutout inning of relief against Kansas State during the Cougars' season-opening win at the Minute Maid Park College Classic... Batted 2-for-6 with a pair of runs against Texas Tech at the Minute Maid Park College Classic... Went 1-for-2 with a run and RBI and laid down a key sacrifice bunt late against UCLA during the Aztec Invitational at PETCO Park... Struck out a career-best seven batters in 4.1 innings of shutout relief against Rice in Game Four of the annual Silver Glove Series... Threw five innings with five strikeouts in a start at Texas-San Antonio... Went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBI against Cincinnati in the series opener... AUSTIN HIGH SCHOOL
Was a four-year letterman in baseball for head coach Todd Moehlig... Earned All-District 20-5A honors for four straight seasons... Honored as District MVP following his junior season and was named to the All-State squad following his senior campaign when he batted .466... Helped lead Austin High to a 20-8 record and a third-place finish in the district as a senior... Ended career with a .414 batting average and 21 wins as a pitcher... Named to the 17-and-under AAU All-Tournament Team and was recognized as MVP at the Sunbelt Classic in Oklahoma.
