Allen came to Houston following six months as a graduate intern strength and conditioning coach with University of Texas men's basketball and additional Olympic sports. With men's basketball, he worked directly with walk-ons and redshirt student-athletes. He also conducted NBA combine testing and weekly weigh-ins as well as daily maintenance of fueling stations.
He assisted Texas' head strength and conditioning coach with women's swim and drive, track and field, soccer and tennis. With the soccer program, Allen was responsible for non-traveling training sessions.
Allen received his degree in nutrition and exercise physiology from Missouri in 2018. While at Missouri, he served 10 months as an intern strength and conditioning coach with the Tigers' men's basketball program. There, he was responsible for equipment maintenance and daily upkeep of the facility. He also assisted with the implementation of the strength and conditioning plans as well as with return-to-play and transitional rehab training protocols.
He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in advanced human performance from Liberty.
