
Sadie Adams Leads Women’s Golf at The Bear Brawl

Freshman ties for 17th at Ridgewood Country Club in collegiate debut
WACO, Texas – Making her collegiate debut, University of Houston freshman Sadie Adams posted a score of 151 to tie for 17th and lead the Cougars at The Bear Brawl at Ridgewood Country Club on Tuesday.
 
Competing in a recent addition to the Cougars' fall schedule, Adams posted a 77 in the First Round on the 6,237-yard, par-72 course and bettered her afternoon session by three strokes.
 
Sophomore Emilia Väistö tied for 22nd with a score of 154. The Seinäjoki, Finland, native joined the Cougars this summer after transferring from Mercer.
 
Redshirt freshman Chiara Brambilla tied for 37th with a score of 158.
 
Texas A&M won the team title with a score of 576 to finish four shots ahead of host Baylor. North Texas (576), UT Arlington (600) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (601) rounded out the Top-Five leaders.
 
Baylor's Yurang Li earned medalist honors with a score of 139 to finish two strokes in front of Texas A&M's Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio. North Texas' Mason Lewis came in third at 142 with Texas A&M teammates Louise Reau and Brynn Kort and Baylor's Malena Castro tying for fourth at 144.

Houston returns to action to begin its spring season at the Collegiate Individual at Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Jan. 30-31.
 
From there, the Cougars will play host to their own Chevron Collegiate at Golf Club of Houston on Feb. 23-24. The Cougars welcome a 17-team field, which includes Arkansas, Baylor, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, North Texas, Oregon, SMU, TCU, Texas State, ULM, UNCW and UTSA.
