Bio
Giorgia Pozzan enters her second season with the women[apos]s tennis program as manager after starring for the Cougars during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Pozzan spent the 2013 offseason competing with Tennis Club Alberto Bonacossa in the second-highest division in the Italian professional system, where she helped lead the squad to the playoffs. Pozzan made the most of her two seasons in the Scarlet and White, posting a dual singles record of 33-12 and an overall singles mark of 50-17, ranking third all-time with a 74.6 career winning percentage. The Lacchiarella, Italy, native also shined in doubles play, notching a 29-14 dual mark and an overall career record of 48-21. In just two seasons, Pozzan chalked up nearly 100 combined singles and doubles victories (98-38). As a senior, Pozzan earned All-Conference USA Second-Team singles honors, becoming the first Cougar since 2008 to garner all-league first or second-team accolades. Pozzan tallied a team-best 16-6 record in dual singles play primarily at the top position, while also tying for the team lead in doubles action with a 14-7 mark. Pozzan came to Houston for the 2010-11 season after spending her first two collegiate years at Sam Houston State, and made an immediate impact for the Cougars at the top of the lineup, combining for a team-leading 32 wins in dual play. Pozzan also racked up a combined fall tournament record of 20-5 in her first season with the Cougars. Pozzan also starred in the classroom at Houston, earning a spot on the C-USA Commissioner[apos]s Honor Roll both seasons.
