Valeriia Krokhotina Tabbed Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week

Krokhotina earns the program’s first Big 12 weekly award
IRVING, Texas — After a weekend that saw the Cougars extend their season opening sweep streak to five games, University of Houston Tennis standout Valeriia Krokhotina was named the Big 12 Player of the Week the league announced Tuesday.
Krokhotina is the first Houston Tennis student-athlete to win a Big 12 Conference weekly award since joining the league in 2023. She is also the first student-athlete since Azul Pedemonti was the American Athletic Conference's Player of Week in the week of March 2, 2021.
The St. Petersburg, Russia, native posted a 4-0 record on the weekend with two wins each in singles and doubles to help the Cougars continue their undefeated start to the season.
Krokhotina has tallied four singles and three doubles victories on the young season.
Houston looks to continue its perfect season when it hosts UTRGV and New Mexico in a doubleheader at the Barabara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively. Admission is free for all home tennis matches.
