PREVIEW: Men’s Golf Opens Spring Season at Individual Tourneys

Karg, Altic to compete at Bentwater Intercollegiate; Hiskey, Janda and Lindsay tee off at Houston Classic at Golf Club of Houston with each tournament starting Monday
HUMBLE & MONTGOMERY, Texas – The University of Houston Men's Golf program begins its Spring season at a pair of individual tournaments starting Monday. The two events are recent additions to the Cougars' spring schedule.
Junior Enrique Karg and freshman Jayk Altic will compete as individuals at the Bentwater Intercollegiate at Benwater Country Club in Montgomery, Texas.
Senior Bryant Hiskey II, freshman Jakub Janda and senior Ruben Lindsay will tee off at the Houston Classic at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Altic will compete in this third tournament of the year. The Houston native opened his collegiate career with a third-place finish with a score of 7-under 209 at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in late September.
Hiskey earned his best finish of the season with a 19th-place showing at the Bayou City Collegiate.
Janda will make his collegiate debut after an award-winning junior career in his native Czech Republic while Lindsay will compete in his first action of the season.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars at the Bentwater Intercollegiate will face student-athletes from VCU, Southern, HCU, UIW, Oakland, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston, East Texas A&M, Ohio, Central Arkansas, Baylor, TCU and Texas Southern.
The Cougars at the Houston Classic will compete against student-athletes from Rogers State, Southern Nazarene, Mississippi College, Southern Arkansas, Arkansas-Fort Smith, Central Oklahoma, Missouri-St. Louis, Dallas Baptist, Oklahoma Christian, Arkansas Tech, Midwestern State, Cameron, Henderson State, Arkansas-Monticello, West Texas A&M and Harding.

For Monday's Bentwater Intercollegiate action, Karg and Altic will compete in groups with student-athletes from TCU and Baylor. Altic begins the First Round at 8 a.m., in the first group off No. 18 while Karg follows in the second group off that hole.

For Monday's Houston Classic action, Hiskey, Janda and Lindsay will compete in groups with student-athletes from Arkansas-Monticello, Cameron and Missouri-St. Louis

UP NEXT
Following Bentwater Intercollegiate and the Houston Classic , the Cougars will open the spring season as a team when they play host to the Border Olympics at Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas, on February 16-17.
Houston welcomes HCU, Illinois State, Lamar, Louisiana, New Mexico State, North Texas, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, Troy, UT Rio Grande Valley, Wichita State and Wright State to the tournament.
Houston will take part in another individual tournament in mid-February with the Claud Jacobs Invitational at Victoria Country Club in Victoria, Texas (February 16-17).
From there, the Cougars travel to Mexico to compete as a team at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Cabo San Lucas on March 1-3.
Houston returns home to play host to its own All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas, on March 16-17.
The Cougars will fac e Rice, Abilene Christian, Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, HCU, Lamar, Nebraska, North Texas, Odessa College, Sam Houston, Tarleton State, ULM, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley and individuals from LSU.
