Daniel Park Named Palmer Cup Assistant Coach

Cougar Associate Head Coach will help lead Team International at Congaree Golf Club in June
HOUSTON – University of Houston Women's Golf Associate Head Coach Daniel Park was named an assistant coach for Team International during the Arnold Palmer Cup in June, Head Coaches Stew Burke and Aaron O'Callaghan announced Friday.He will join Puerto Rico's Janice Olivencia, Canada's Brennan Webb and England's Matt Whall on the Team International staff.
Now in his fourth year on Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Lasprilla's staff, Park has been a leader in the Cougars' success in recent years.
Houston has competed in three NCAA Regionals during his tenure with one individual appearance by Annie Kim at the 2022 NCAA Franklin Regional in Tennessee.
With a No. 5 seed at the NCAA Columbus Regional, the Cougars earned their highest seed in program history in NCAA postseason play and stand at #26 in the latest Scoreboard by Clippd national rankings.
The Cougars have won four team championships under his guidance, including three titles during the 2024-25 season. With wins at the 2024 Schooner Fall Classic, 2025 Riverbend Intercollegiate and 2025 Veritex Bank Collegiate, Park and the Cougars have tied the school single-season record for most team titles.
Individually, junior Moa Svedenskiold and sophomore Ellen Yates have won combined four tournament titles during their careers.
With two tournament crowns in 2024-25, Svedenskiold joined All-American Leonie Harm as the only Cougars to win multiple tournaments in a season.
In addition to the success on the course, the Cougars have enjoyed success in the classroom with 15 student-athletes receiving conference All-Academic honors and nine earning Women's Golf Coaches Association of America All-American Scholar recognition during Park's tenure.
ABOUT the ARNOLD PALMER CUP
The 2025 Palmer Cup is set for June 5-7 at Congaree Golf Club in South Carolina.
The Palmer Cup is an annual competition between the top 24 collegiate student-athletes (12 men, 12 women) from the United States against their International counterparts.

Svedenskiold competes as an individual at the NCAA Championships starting Friday afternoon at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
She will become the third Cougar in program history to compete at the NCAA Championships.
Harm qualified for the 2018 and 2016 NCAA Championships while Karen Fredgaard earned the most recent invitation in 2021, tying for 28th for the highest individual finish at the nation's top collegiate event.
