Cougars Fall in Final Road Contest

PHOENIX – The University of Houston concluded its road slate of the 2024 campaign losing to Arizona State 13-1 on Sunday.

First baseman Xavier Perez hit his ninth home run in the first inning to give Houston (28-22, 11-15 Big 12) a 1-0 lead after the top of the first. Perez leads the Cougar club in average, home run and RBI entering the final week of the regular season. He is on track to become the first Cougar to hit to a triple crown in a full season since 2017.

Arizona State (34-18, 18-9 Big 12) scored 3+ in four consecutive innings and hit a pair of home runs in the game.

Houston hosts Arizona in the final Big 12 Conference series of the season at Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park Thursday-Saturday with the Thursday and Friday games starting at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday's game set for 1 p.m. The Thursday night game will be the Cougars' Houston Blue game.
