Houston hosts Arizona in final regular season series; Cougars wear Houston Blue Thursday, honor seniors Friday, Saturday
HOUSTON – The Houston Baseball team is set to conclude its regular season slate of games with a three-game Big 12 Conference series against Arizona, Thursday-Saturday, at Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park. The Thursday night game will feature the Cougars donning their Houston Blue uniforms for the first time.

SATURDAY PARKING
- Due to the Houston's UFL team playing at Noon on Saturday, parking at Schroeder Park on game day will be $20. Fans can prepurchase parking for Saturday's game by clicking here. Fans should purchase parking for the Blue Lot at this link.
THE MATCHUP
- This is the first meeting in Houston since 2019, a three-game series in which the Cougars won the first two games of.
- The last meeting was the Cougars' second-to-last game of the 2020 season before the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown all sports related competitions.
- Houston led 4-3 after the top of the 6th and was on its way to a series win in Tucson before a five-run seventh allowed the Wildcats to salvage the series finale in 2020.
QUICK HITTERS
- Junior Tyler Cox has quietly put together Houston's best batting average in Big 12 Conference play with a .301 average against Big 12 opponents this season. Cox has 11 hits in his last 17 at bats (.647 avg) with six RBI.
- Schroeder Park welcomed 1,000,000 fans through the gate this season.
- Houston swept its first Big 12 Conference series of the season and won its first home series since March 9 with a sweep of Utah. The Cougars last swept a Big 12 opponent in 2024, opening Big 12 play with a sweep of Baylor.
- The Cougars won five-straight Big 12 games, the longest streak in the two years since joining the league. Houston's 11 Big 12 wins is a four-game improvement from 2024.
- Senior Antoine Jean is arguably the nation's most consistent pitcher with the second-most strikeouts per nine innings pitched with 15.30 and the seventh-best hits allowed per nine rate of 5.40 while striking out the ninth most hitters in all of college baseball with 102 and allowing a the 16th best WHIP of 0.93. Jean is one of two pitchers nationally in the top 10 in both K/9 and H/9.
- Jean was ranked the #6 relief pitcher in the country by D1Baseball.com
- Houston's 14 road wins is fourth-most in the Big 12. The Cougars have improved their road win total by nine games from 2024 an 180% increase.
- Jean's 58.5% whiff rate on his curveball leads all D-1 pitchers who have thrown at least 150 curveballs. His 38.0% whiff rate is 14th nationally among pitchers with at least 500 pitches thrown.
- Jean leads the team with 2.10 WAR through 50 games this season while Xavier Perez's 1.87 WAR is best among Houston position players. Jean's 2.03 pWAR is 20th nationally and second in the Big 12 Conference.
- Tre Broussard's wheels are turning, successfully stealing 21 bases in a row this season before being caught against Rice on April 8. The Houston native is tied for second all-time in school history for consecutive stolen bases. Broussard's 30 stolen bases ranks eighth in program history. Broussard is chasing the school record of 36 stolen bases in a single season set by Trey Williams in 1969.
- Houston scored 10+ runs in five consecutive games scoring 10+ in five consecutive games for the first time since 1999 scoring 10+ in games at Rice (3/5), vs Grambling (3/7-9) and at Sam Houston (3/12).
- Triple Crown Chase: Antoine Jean and Xavier Perez are chasing the triple crown on the mound and at the plate respectively (more on page 11).
LAST TIME OUT
- Houston won its sixth conference opening game with a win at Arizona State on Friday.
- Antoine Jean surpassed the 100K mark on Friday, becoming the second reliever in program history to strikeout 100 hitters in a single season.
