Grant Doggett Leads Men’s Golf at Aggie Invitational

Sophomore ties for ninth for second Top-10 finish of season
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – University of Houston Men's Golf sophomore Grant Doggett posted 73 in Sunday's Final Round and tied for ninth with a 54-hole score of 221 to lead the Cougars at the Aggie Invitational at Traditions Club.
Starting off No. 1, Doggett overcame a slow start which saw him post pair of double bogeys on his first three holes and stand at +5 through the first five.
The Beach City, Texas, native rebounded with back-to-back birdies at Nos. 7-8 and started his second nine with another birdie on the 559-yard, par-5 10th hole. Following his final bogey at No. 13, Doggett alternated birdies and pars over his final four holes for his second Top-10 finish of the season.
Doggett was one of two Cougars competing as individuals at the Aggie Invitational. Freshman Hsuan-Yi Chen tied for 37th with a score of 229.
Texas A&M's Phichaksn Maichon won the individual title with a score of 6-under 210 while Louisiana's Malan Potgieter finished second at 215. Texas A&M's Aaron Ponds came in third at 216.
Texas A&M also captured the team title with a score of 867 to finish nine strokes ahead of Oklahoma. Sam Houston (886), Louisiana (886) and Baylor (896) rounded out the Top-Five leaders.

Following the Aggie Invitational, the Cougars take their first steps when they compete at the Big 12 Championships at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., on April 22-24.
From there, Houston enters the NCAA postseason. The Cougars will learn their NCAA Regional destination during the NCAA Selection Show set to air at Noon, April 30.
The six sites for 2025 NCAA Regional play are Poplar Grove Golf Course (Amherst, Va.; hosted by Virginia); Gold Mountain Golf Club (Bremerton, Wash., hosted by Washington); The Blessings Golf Club (Fayetteville, Ark.; hosted by Arkansas); Montreux Golf and Country Club (Reno, Nev.; hosted by Nevada); Karsten Creek Golf Club (Stillwater Okla.., hosted by Oklahoma State) and Seminole Legacy Club (Tallahassee, Fla.; hosted by Florida State)
