
PREVIEW: Men’s Golf Set for Big 12 Championships Starting Tuesday

Three-day, 72-hole tournament set for Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

The Cougars will play 72 holes over three days with 36 holes Tuesday and 18 holes on Wednesday and Thursday. The winner of the league's annual postseason event earns an automatic bid to NCAA Regional play on May 12-14.
Houston enters the Big 12 Championships after closing its regular season with a sixth-place showing at the Thunderbird Collegiate at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz., on April 11-12. Seniors Jacob Borow and Wolfgang Glawe each finished at 5-under 208 to lead the Cougars and tie for 17th.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Under Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke's leadership, Houston will be represented by junior Hudson Weibel, Glawe, sophomore Chi Chun Chen, senior Laurenz Schiergen and sophomore Grant Doggett.
This season, Weibel leads the Cougars with a 71.08 scoring average and is stands second on the team with 13 rounds of par or better, including eight in the 60s.
The Dallas native has earned four Top-10 finishes, including a sixth-place showing at the Cougars' own All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston on March 17-18 after shooting 2-under 214.
Glawe is a close third with a 71.38 average and is tied for the team lead with a pair of Top-Five finishes, including a third-place showing at the All-American Intercollegiate, thanks to a 67 in the First Round.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 16-team field featuring No. 1 seed Oklahoma State, No. 2 Arizona State, No. 3 Utah, No. 4 Arizona, No. 5 BYU, No. 6 Texas Tech, No. 7 Colorado, No. 9 Kansas, No. 10, TCU, No. 11 Kansas State, No. 12 Iowa State, No. 13 Baylor, No. 14 Cincinnati, No. 15 West Virginia and No. 16 UCF.
TEE TIMES
For Tuesday's First and Second Rounds, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from BYU, Texas Tech and Colorado beginning off the No. 10 tee at 7:30 a.m.
Doggett begins the tournament at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, with Schiergen (7:42 a.m.), Chen (7:54 a.m.), Glawe (8:06 a.m.) and Weibel (8:18 a.m.) following.
The Second Round will begin immediately after schools complete their First Rounds.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS HISTORY
Houston owns a rich history at conference championships with 21 team titles and 22 individual crowns.
In 2023, the Cougars swept the team and individual titles at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla., during the American Athletic Conference Championships in their final year in the league.
As a team, Houston finished with a total of 831 to win by 12 strokes over Cincinnati. All-American Santiago De La Fuente posted a score of 16-under 200 to earn medalist honors and finish three shots ahead of teammate Austyn Reily.
A year ago, the Cougars tied for sixth at Whispering Pines Golf Club with a score of 1,159. All-American Santiago De La Fuente posted a total of 7-under 281 with four straight sub-par rounds to tie for fourth at 7-under 281.
UP NEXT
Following the Big 12 Championships, the Cougars will enter the NCAA postseason, set for May 12-14. Houston learns its NCAA Regional destination during the NCAA Selection Show set to air at Noon, April 30.
The six sites for 2025 NCAA Regional play are Poplar Grove Golf Course (Amherst, Va.; hosted by Virginia); Gold Mountain Golf Club (Bremerton, Wash., hosted by Washington); The Blessings Golf Club (Fayetteville, Ark.; hosted by Arkansas); Montreux Golf and Country Club (Reno, Nev.; hosted by Nevada); Karsten Creek Golf Club (Stillwater Okla.., hosted by Oklahoma State) and Seminole Legacy Club (Tallahassee, Fla.; hosted by Florida State).
The Top-Five teams at each NCAA Regional advance to the NCAA Championships set for May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
