Jean struck out four, has not allowed a run in 11.2 relief innings, DeJesus pinch hit go-ahead RBI wins game
HOUSTON – Senior Antoine Jean ran his scoreless inning streak to 11.2 innings after 4.1 dominant innings as the Houston Baseball team took the opener from TCU 3-2 on Friday night at Don Sanders Field at Darryl and Lori Schroeder Park.
Jean (3-0) earned the win after pinch hitter Coby DeJesus slapped a go-ahead two-out RBI double down the right field line in the seventh inning, scoring shortstop Tyler Cox from first.
Houston (15-10, 3-4 Big 12) won its third straight game after junior Paul Schmitz worked through a bumpy first inning where he gave up the game's first run. The Bonn, Germany, native settled in to strike out four and didn't allow his second run until the fifth inning after he departed with a runner on first with two outs.
Jean, who has not allowed a run since the seventh inning on March 14, a stretch of 11.2 scoreless innings, all in relief.
The Cougars took the lead over TCU (19-8, 3-4 Big 12) in the third inning on a two-out two-RBI double off the bat of the red-hot sophomore Xavier Perez.
Sophomore Tre Broussard stole his team-leading 17th base and still has not been caught stealing in 2025. The speedy center fielder has the fourth-most consecutive stolen bases in program history.
Both teams scored the entirety of their runs with two-out hits.
The win marked Houston's first win over TCU since March 25, 2011.

The Cougars will look to win their second-straight series on Saturday against the Horned Frogs at 6:30 p.m. before finishing the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will stream on ESPN+ at Schroeder Park.
